Episode 11 - Unfiltered, Unedited, Unacceptably Late

We had a bit of a chat about the Australian Grand Prix last week and it really feels like it should go live before the next Grand Prix, which as of the time of writing is... err... this afternoon. As a result it isn't really edited, but hopefully it's a fun listen nevertheless. We are somewhat back!

Episode 9 - Monaco

Finally edited and published (expect the news to be even more out of date than it normally is) but here is Episode 9 of The Caution Period Podcast. This time we're watching the 1982 Monaco Grand Prix, aka the race no-one wanted to win. Episode 8 - Indianapolis

It's an Indy 500 special! We watch the 2006 Indy 500, which featured rising star Danica Patrick, a father and son racing together, Dan Wheldon attempting to make it back to back victories and also... um... Sam Hornish Jr was there. Tune in for analysis of the race and the true story behind Helio Castronevez's crash...

Episode 7 - Hockenheim

This bumper episode focuses on the 2000 Hockenheim Grand Prix, which featured changing weather, multiple incidents and one very disgruntled track invader. It also featured a fan favourite driver taking his very first win after 7 years of trying. Also we play another version of classic parlor-game-slash-thought-experiment Kiss Marry Kill which focusses on Formula One circuits from across history.

Episode 6 - Long Beach, California

With the legendary Long Beach Grand Prix one of the recent events to be cancelled, we thought we'd revisit the era when specialised Le Mans prototypes battled around the 90 degree turns of this California street circuit. Also discussed are Ferrari's threats to leave F1, Mike's first foray into Formula E esports and a race that takes place in Lithuania, rather than Latvia as Mike asserts based on his own terrible geographical knowledge.

Episode 5 - Silverstone

The Silverstone 1987 Formula One Grand Prix is the focus of this week's episode, but Pete also has some proposals from his own cobbled together working group for how to improve the spectacle of modern F1. We also discuss how difficult it is not to say something career endingly offensive during an esports race. Spoiler alert: not that difficult.

Episode 4 - Fontana, California

This week, on Pete's insistence, we talk about the greatest race he's ever seen: 220mph pack racing in the 2015 Indycar race from Autoclub Speedway. Other topics discussed in this painfully nerdy episode include model making, putting modern drivers in ancient machinery and, nerdiest of all, inboard braking systems. Get involved.

Episode 3 - Fuji

After another week in lockdown, the team discuss the perfect formula for a mid-lockdown, socially distanced Grand Prix, Pete's own foray into an esport and the epic 2007 Japanese Grand Prix from Fuji, which was held in torrid conditions. Also, thanks to Alex Edwards for our new podcast theme tune!

Martin claims never to have seen a NASCAR race, so we decide to mark the Food City 500 weekend by watching a classic race from Bristol Motor Speedway, a half mile oval in a 160,000 spectator amphitheatre.
